Disable Windows Reboot/Restart After Automatic Updates

One of the most annoying thing about the Windows is that after every automatic updates installation, it requires reboot/restart of the system. I`m tired of clicking Restart Later all the time. How to avoid that? Disable updates? No!! As these updates are essential for the smooth functioning of your System (includes security updates and patches). But those reboot reminders are quite irritating.

How to Turn them off?
  • Go To Start>>Run.
  • Type gpedit.msc, a Local Group Policy Editor will open.
  • Now move to Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components>>Windows Update and click on it.
Windows Updates 1
  • Find and click on this “No-auto restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installation”. A new Window will pop up.
No auto restart for automatic updates
  • By default it is set to “Not configured”, to disable the auto restart of the system, enable this setting.
Enable no auto restart
That`s it. Do you find this trick useful? Do share your views.
Note : Trick implemented using Windows 7, also works on Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 and above.
